Robots will soon play role of social companions

London: Scientists are setting the stage for a pathbreaking research that aims t odevelop robots as social companions.

“The robots will master principles of structured grammar, like negation, by using these abilities in context,” said Prof. Chrystopher Nehaniv, the lead researcher. ICub, a baby robot, will be used t ostudy how a robot could pick up language skills and will be available in 2009.
